10 NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the NAACP supports positive and pro-active, and definitive efforts to stop the exporting of American Jobs. FURTHER, BE IT RESOLVED, that we call upon all NAACP units and people of goodwill to support this program. IV. EDUCATION 1. All Afrlcan-Aperlcan Male Schools Approved WHEREAS, the NAACP recognizes that the situation of the African-American male in America is one of severe crisis with the African-American male rating the worst on every single social indicator; and, WHEREAS, in the area of education, the African-American male is especially at risk; and, WHEREAS, there have been efforts all across the country to create all black male schools at the elementary and secondary levels to address this problem; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the NAACP, while cognizant of the complex problems of the African-American male, must reaffirm its historical opposition to school segregation of any kind, and call upon all persons concerned to find workable alternatives to the proposed segregated education for African-American males; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the NAACP calls upon all researchers to desegregate the data, not only by race, but by race and sex in order to better ascertain the problem; FINALLY BE IT RESOLVED, that all units of the NAACP be encouraged to develop various projects that can be targeted to the needs of African-American males. 2. Increased African-American Staff in the Public School gYgtem, Approved WHEREAS, declining numbers of minority educators in the public school system have caused great concern through the African-American community; and, WHEREAS, minority students need good qualified role models; and,
