(8) Mrs. Singleton reported that they have met with John Brooke, Labor Commission and have good infromation to be sent out to the branches. A motion was made by Mrs. Singleton to accept the Committees reports. The motion was seconded by Mr. Alston and passed. The 1991 Convention: A meeting was held with the Burlington Branch. We have addressed several concerns concerning the 1991 Convention that is scheduled to be held in Burlington. The main issue which is housing was reviewed. No alternate arrangements were available. The hotel that had been contacted initially suddenly raised their prices. Rooms that were $ 30.00 a night were going for $ 68.00 a night. Also, they wanted to charge for the meeting spaces which normally are donated. Ernestine Lewis, President of the Burlington Branch conferenced with her vice president and they decided to recommend that we find another location for the 1991 State Convention if possible because it would not be fair to have the members to pay the kind of prices that were being offered. The Executive Committee accepted her recommendation. President Alexander suggested an alternative that might be viable. The meeting might meet in Durham around NC Central hosted by the Burlington, Caswell and Durham branches. Mrs. Lewis said that this would be agreeable to her. A motion was made by Skip Alston and seconded by Rev. Campbell for a move of the site from Burlington to some other suitable location with a continuity of Caswell and Alamance (Burlington) branches plus whatever branch will co-host. We have not officially contacted the Durham Branch. The motion passed. No Old Business No New Business The meeting adjourned at 5:15 PM Respectively Submitted Sophia Dixon, Ass't Secretary Kelly M.
