MEMO: VACANCY OF NOMINATION The Mecklenburg County Democratic Party will hold an election for the vacancy of nomination in new county commission District #2 due to the death of Commissioner, Bob Walton. The election will be held on Thursday, August 25,1994 at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg County Government Center, Meeting Chamber, located at 600 E. 4th St., Charlotte, NC and will begin at 7 PM. Pursuant to NC General Statue 163-114, the Mecklenburg County Executive Committee will elect the nominee for the vacancy. The Mecklenburg County Executive Committee consists of: chairmen and vice chairmen of organized precincts, elected officers of the County Executive Committee, presidents of democratic clubs, members of the State Executive Committee, and democratic elected officials. To be eligible for the vacancy of nomination an individual must be a registered democrat and reside in new county commission District #2 as is presently exists. New District #2 precincts include: 12, 16, 22, 25, 31, 41, 50, 52, 53, 54, 55, 58, 59, 76, 77, 78, 81, 97, and 98. Anyone interested in seeking the nomination must notify the Mecklenburg County Democratic Party at 230 E. Independence Blvd., #100, Charlotte, NC 28204-2252 in writing by Monday, August 22, 1994 at 12 noon in order to be placed on the ballot. Also nominations will be accepted from the floor from any registered democrat that resides in new county commission District #2 with a valid voter registration card. The deadline for precincts to be organized for voting is Monday, August 15, 1994. For additional information contact Democratic Headquarters at 334-1139 or Beverly Earle at 333-7180. *Mark your calendars now for our fun-filled Honoree Event with Speaker of the House, Dan Blue to be held on Wednesday, August 24,. 1994 from 5:30 until 7:30 PM. The event will be held at the beautiful home of Susan Burgess located at 2710 Lemon Tree Lane in Charlotte. More details will follow.
