Mr. A. B. Thornton
3931 Statesville Avenue
Charlotte, North Carolina
My dear Mr. Thornton:
I have attempted to reach you by phone several times in the last couple
of weeks hoping that it would be possible for you, Mayor Brookshire and me to
have a conference to see if some plan might be worked out to ease the problem
which confronts our community in connection with the demonstrations of your
restaurants.
I am serving as Chairman of the Mayor's Committee which has been able
to furnish at least a channel of intercommunication in a good many such situations as they have arisen in the past couple of years. I have every confidence
that we could have been helpful in this regard had we been given an opportunity.
I write to say to you that we stand ready to do anything possible to
allay these difficulties which are causing embarrassment to you and your business and to our city.
With best wishes, I am
Sincerely,
J R Cunningham
