Description	Black & white postcard picturing the Carnegie Free Library. The building to the left is the First Baptist Church which was constructed in 1884. Other postcards showing the Church along with the Library depict the First Baptist Church building which was completed in 1909. The Carnegie Library opened its doors at 310 North Tryon Street in 1903. It was the first free public library in Charlotte and the second one to open in North Carolina. Annie Smith Ross was the first librarian. The building had five rooms and 2,526 volumes. The North Carolina Library Association held its first meeting here in 1904. Published by the Rotograph Co.
