About this collection

Sketches of Charlotte, published by Wade H. Harris, illustrates Charlotte as it stood in 1904. The subtitle calls Charlotte "North Carolina's finest city and  the recognized cotton milling centre of the southern states." The publisher notes that the book was "issued for the purpose of advertising the manufacturing, commericial, industrial and agricultural resources of the city of Charlotte and county of Mecklenburg." Sketches of Charlotte comprises seventy-eight images and accompanying text.
